I live and work in beautiful Asheville, North Carolina, nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains serving customers and clients in the general western North Carolina area and sometimes venturing further when requested.

Below you will find an interesting look at some of the work I’ve done and some video too.   I call it From Roll to Real

(JUST A QUICK NOTE HERE: If you have just a small project you want installed, like a powder room or a single accent wall,  you need not be intimidated by the larger projects on display here.  I do the little ones all the time as well 🙂 .)

THE LARGEST HOUSE I’VE WORKED IN

Yes, the Biltmore Estate  America’s largest home, right here in Asheville where I installed wallpaper in  some rooms. Of course they had it custom printed to be historically accurate.  They were very pleased with my work.

PAPERHANGING PROJECTS

FROM ROLL TO REAL

Let's look at a roll sitting on my work table. Then let's see the real thing on some walls.

A Really Cool paperhanging project

This was a two-story spiral staircase. There were all sorts of special considerations that had to be taken into account. Above is the wallpaper sitting on my table. Check out the finished work below.

Grasscloth project

Love the grasscloth. It just has that organic look and feel. Check it out sitting on my table above. See the finished room below.

super shiny paper, high ceilings project. hard work...whew!

This was a rather large room with about 25 foot ceilings. Hanging wallcovering that was so shiny a large grain of sand behind the wallcovering would show in the wrong light. See the wallcovering above on my table. See interesting pics and curious video below.

PROJECT:

Bradbury&Bradbury

…fine handprinted art wallpaper…

This was a fun project to transform the weathered and textured walls to smooth walls ready for this fine handprinted Bradbury & Bradbury. Take a look at this paper on my table and then watch the process in the pictures that follow.

PROJECT:

LINCRUSTA

A deeply embossed wallcovering manufactured in Britain since 1877

Another fun project. This dado panel design was actually designed to go under a shorter chair rail than what we had here. So we cut out the original secondary pattern and used another design that was able to fill the space needed for a higher chair rail.  Once it was all installed we had faux painter extraordinaire, Anna Krauss, come in to give it some rich color and effect.

Check out the raw materiel on my work table and then check out the pictures of making the whole thing real.

MURAL PROJECTS

Murals are becoming much more the thing lately.  And with more and more wallcovering being digitally printed a number of new possibilities have opened up.  Check out some of my mural installations.

PHILLIP JEFFRIES

PHILLIP JEFFRIES is famous for their many innovations in  design and construction.  Here’s an exquisite gold leaf style mural.  Have a look on my table.  And then let’s see the finished mural on the wall.

By the way, you can see books and samples of Phillip Jeffries wallcovering at Yesterday’s Tree in Asheville.

Masterworks to Mural

Here’s an example of a great masterpiece painting scanned digitally and turned into a massive wall mural.

PAINTING PROJECTS

I haven’t tried to photo my everyday painting projects too much. And frankly, I’m not doing much painting these days since wallpaper has come back into popularity.  However, I have included some comments below from customers on Angieslist for your perusal if you wish which may arouse some images in your mind. (You can go on Angieslist and verify these reviews if you want.)

Below that I am including some photos of kitchen cabinet painting I have done. This had become a sub-specialty for me that I’m particularly proud of and it’s interesting to see the before and after pictures. It’s a great way for people to turn those dingy, dark, old cabinets into something light and new looking for much less than the cost of replacing them.

KITCHEN CABINET PAINTING PROJECTS

I have painted many, many sets of kitchen cabinets and have made it a sort of sub-specialty of mine. All the doors and hinges are removed.  All the cabinets and doors are painted by hand with meticulous prep, a special primer for exceptional adhesion and 2 coats of oil-base top-coat.  The result is a very hard, durable almost sprayed appearance.  Take a look at these pictures.

These oak wood cabinets...
...will still show some grain after they are painted...
...but they look great when they are done, very smooth but with the grain.
Here's a photo of some cabinets I painted about 10 years previously. They still look great!
